If you’re wondering why Google Maps is always showing your location when you have a phone on, there’s a simple fix: Turn on the “Auto-follow” feature on your phone.
When you’re on your smartphone, you can switch off the “follow” function and use the GPS instead.
To do so, go to Settings > About phone, and select “General”.
Once you’re there, tap “Settings”.
You should now see a “GPS” section at the bottom of the screen.
Tap on “Auto Follow”.
The location of the phone should now be shown on your map.
If not, go into Settings > General > GPS, and turn on the auto-follow feature.
To get a good look at the map, turn on “Open Maps”.
In the “Open Location” tab, tap on the icon for “Google Maps”.
You can also tap on “Gps” to see the map.
The map will be open, and will show your location, which should be the closest GPS point you can find.
You can tap the icon to close it.
